The Bangladeshi human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over the killing of Kausar Khan, a sexual minority homosexual sand trader of Charbhadrasan Upazila under Faridpur district. 

JusticeMakers Bangladesh strongly demanded that the accused criminal must be given exemplary punishment in a transparent trial after a quick and impartial investigation of the incident.

According to the news published by Voice of America's Bengali section online on November 4, 2022, Payal Khatun, a transgender woman elected as a member of the Union Parishad in Kushtia district of Bangladesh and she is the first elected public representative of the third gender in Kushtia district.

European attorneys seek protection for LGBTQ activist Bangladeshi lawyer

European lawyers are urging the prime minister of Bangladesh to protect a Bangladeshi attorney whose gay-rights activism has made him the target of death threats.

The president of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) wrote to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Oct. 19, seeking protection for attorney/activist Shahanur Islam.

In the letter, the CCBE “respectfully urges Your Excellency to do everything in your power to urgently provide adequate protection to lawyer Shahanur Islam and his family, since it is believed that this continuous acts of threats and harassment are based on his legitimate activities as a human rights lawyer.”

OIAD ALERT: New death threats against Shahanur Islam, lawyer, human rights defender

Recently, Shahanur Islam, a Bangladeshi lawyer known for his human rights work, has suffered ongoing death threats against him and his family with impunity.

On 25 August 2022 Mr Islam received a threatening message in english on his phone from an unidentified number. The message threatened to kill the lawyer and his family if he continued to fight for LGBT rights in Bangladesh. On 8 September 2022, a new threatening text message was received by the lawyer.

The CCBE places great emphasis on respect for human rights and the rule of law and is particularly concerned with the situation of human rights defenders around the world.

Law Society of England and Wales Raises Concerns Over Threats to Bangladeshi Lawyer Shahanur Islam

The Law Society of England and Wales, a professional body representing approximately 200,000 solicitors, has expressed deep concerns regarding the ongoing threats and harassment faced by Bangladeshi lawyer Shahanur Islam. On 16 November , in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, the Law Society called for immediate action to safeguard Mr. Islam and uphold the rule of law.

Shahanur Islam serves as the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights and Justice Makers Bangladesh. Throughout his career, he has been an ardent defender of the rights of ethnic, religious, and LGBTI minorities, as well as opposition politicians. Regrettably, he has been a target of multiple threats, intimidation, physical assault, and arrest dating back to 2008.

বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের ন্যায় বাংলাদেশেও খুন ও ধর্ষনের মত কিছু গুরুত্বর ও ঘৃনিত অপরাধ, যা কোন ব্যক্তির কখনো সংঘটন করা উচিত নয়, সেসকল অপরাধের জন্য রাষ্ট্র অপরাধীকে মৃত্যুদণ্ডের মত গুরুদণ্ড প্রদান করে থাকে। যদিও সাধাররণত প্রাপ্ত বয়স্ক গুরুত্বর অপরাধের জন্য দায়ী ব্যক্তিদের মৃত্যুদণ্ডের মত গুরুদণ্ড প্রদান করা হলেও বিশ্বের কিছু কিছু দেশে ১৮ বছরের কম বয়সি অপরাধীকেও মৃর্ত্যুদণ্ডের মত নিষ্ঠুর, অমানবিক এবং অবমাননাকর শাস্তি প্রদান করে থাকে।   

যদিও এখন বিশ্বের অধিকাংশ রাষ্ট্র মৃর্ত্যুদণ্ডের মত নিষ্ঠুর, অমানবিক ও অবমাননাকর শাস্তি বিলোপের পক্ষে তারপরও বাংলাদেশ সহ বিশ্বের ৪২টি দেশে এখনো মৃর্ত্যুদণ্ড প্রদান করা হয়ে থাকে। যদিও তাদের মধ্যে ৮টি দেশে সাধারণ কোন অপরাধের জন্য নয় বিশেষ প্রকৃতির গুরুত্বরও ঘৃণিত অপরাধের জন্য মৃর্ত্যুদণ্ড প্রদান করা হয়ে থাকে। অন্যদিকে বিশ্বের প্রায় ৮০% অর্থাৎ১৫৫টি রাষ্ট্র আইনগত ভাবে মৃর্ত্যুদণ্ড সম্পূর্ণরূপে বাতিল করেছে বা বাস্তবিকভাবে মৃর্ত্যুদণ্ড কার্যকর করার উপর  স্থগিতাদেশ প্রদান করেছে।

BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh strongly urge to Bangladesh Government to repeal the provision of death penalty in the existing law.

On the occasion of the 20th World Abolition of Death Penalty Day 2022, Bangladeshi human rights organizations Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh have called for the abolition of all clauses containing the provision of death penalty in the existing laws in Bangladesh. Today, on October 10, 2022, BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh urged to the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to abolish death penalty.

Advocate Shahanur Islam, Secretary General of JusticeMakers Bangladesh and BIHR, has demanded for life imposing life imprisonment in serious crimes instead of death penalty to avoid cruel, inhuman and humiliating punishments like death penalty.

Recently on 25th August and 6th September 2022, he received separate two death threats messages along with his wife and kid over his mobile phone. 

On 25th August 2022 around at 10:17 pm BST, Mr. Islam received threats message in English language over his phone from an unidentified number. The message states that if you don’t stop fighting aims to establishment of homosexual rights in BD, immediately you will be killed along with your family members brutally.

According to the news published on different newspaper that Maksudur Rahman Diana, a transgender woman’s body was recovered from a room inside a single-storey house in Golap Bagh of Wari in the capital on August 27 afternoon.

Three get life term jail for killing homosexual Awami League leader in Khulna

After14 years of murder, a Khulna court in Bangladesh sentenced three youths for life term imprisonment on Monday 31 July 2022 on charges of killing former joint secretary of city unit of Awami League as well as a homosexual gay Khan Ibne Zaman on October 13 in 2008.

The convicts are- Sheikh Tayebur Rahman alias Iran, Apurba kumar Biswas and Md Shohag Sheikh.

গত ২৬ মে ২০২২ খ্রীষ্টাব্দ তারিখে অনলাইন পত্রিকা বিডিনিউজ২৪ ডট কম এ প্রকাশিত খবর আনুযায়ী জানা যায় বরিশাল ইনস্টিটিউট অব হেলথ টেকনোলজির ফার্সেসি বিভাগের চুক্তিভিত্তিক এক শিক্ষকের বিরুদ্ধে ছাত্রদের সমকামিতার প্রস্তাব দেওয়‌ার অভিযোগ ওঠায় তাকে সাময়িক অব‌্যাহতি দেওয়া হয়েছে।

যৌন প্রবৃত্তিগত সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী ব্যক্তির সাংবিধানিক স্বীকৃতি প্রদান পুর্দবক দণ্ডবিধির ৩৭৭ ধারা বিলোপ করে তাদের সুরক্ষা প্রদান আইন প্রনয়ন করা হোক। 

যৌন প্রবৃত্তিগত সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী সম্প্রদায় অর্থাৎ লেজবিয়ান, গে, বাইসেক্সুয়াল এবং ট্রানজেণ্ডার ব্যক্তি  সমাজের আর দশজন ব্যক্তির চেয়ে আলাদা কেউ না হলেও বিশ্বের অধিকাংশ সমাজে তাদের সবসময় আলাদা করে নিচু দৃষ্টিতে দেখা হয়ে থাকে। 

ফলে তাদের সমাজে গ্রহণযোগ্যতা, সমমর্যাদা ও আইনের দৃষ্টিতে সমতা প্রতিষ্ঠার  জন্য প্রতিনিয়ত সংগ্রাম করতে হচ্ছে।

শুধুমাত্র যৌন প্রবৃত্তি ও লিঙ্গ পরিচয়ের কারণে মানবাধিকার লংঘনের ঘটনা সারা বিশ্বে আজ গুরুত্বর উদ্বেগের বিষয় হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে।

We, civil society groups from the five continents of the world working together for a just, peaceful, sustainable and prosperous world, jointly call for a negotiated solution to end the war in Ukraine as promptly and swiftly as possible. This must include an immediate cessation of hostilities against civilians and the removal of Russian military forces and weaponry from Ukraine, coupled with an agreed statement and provision of security assurances by and for all parties.

গতকাল ১৪ এপ্রিল ২০২২ খ্রীষ্টাব্দ তারিখে মাথাভাংগা ডট কমে প্রকাশিত খবর আনুযায়ী জানা যায় যে, হিজরাদের চাঁদার দাবিতে অতিষ্ট হয়ে নদী নামের এক হিজরাকে পিটিয়েছেন ব্যবসায়ী। গতকাল বুধবার বিকেলে গাংনী উপজেলার বামন্দী বাজারে এ ঘটনা ঘটে।

Bangladeshi Human rights organizations Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh have expressed deep concern over the media exposure the identity of homosexual lesbian girls who has come from Noakhali to meet her girlfrind at Tangail.

At the same time, BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh have demanded to respect the love of homosexual lesbian teenagers and esure their adiquet and proper security and protection.

According to the news published in different media, it is known that love relationship developed between two teenager girls through Facebook. These two girls have come together after crossing a long distance due to the affection of love.

JusticeMakers Bangladesh concerns over the physical abuse of trans-woman beauty vlogger in Dhaka.

Bangladeshi human rights organization JusticeMakers has expressed concern over the recent incident of holding captive, black mailing and physical abuse of a beauty vlogger transgender woman in Dhaka. It also urges to the government of Bangladesh to immediate action against culprits who were involved with the heinous crime against transgender woman and bring the culprits before the book and give exemplary punishment after quick and impartial investigation.

According to the news published on different newspaper that transgender beauty vlogger Saad Mua has claimed that she was held captive by a man and a woman in Dhaka's Bashundhara residential area recently and brought allegations of blackmail, physical and verbal abuse.

গত ০৯ জানুয়ারী ২০২২ খ্রীষ্টাব্দ দৈনিক জনকণ্ঠ পত্রিকার প্রকাশিত খবর আনুযায়ী জানা যায় যে, গত ০৮ জানুয়ারী শনিবার সকালে যশোর-ছুটিপুর সড়কের হালসা ব্রিজের কাছে দুর্বৃত্তদের ছুরিকাঘাতে লাভলী (৩০) নামে এক হিজড়া খুন হয়েছে।
