JMBF Highlights Arbitrary Arrests and Detention, Custodial Torture and Deaths, Restrictions on Fundamental Freedoms, Threats to Journalists and Lawyers, Academic Repression, and Violence Against Children and Marginalised Communities.
Paris, France I September 30, 2026: The third quarter of 2026 (July 01–September 30) marked another significant period of human rights advocacy for JMBF. Throughout these three months, we remained steadfast in documenting human rights violations, amplifying the voices of victims and vulnerable communities, and advocating for accountability, justice, equality and human dignity.
During this period, JMBF raised serious concerns regarding arbitrary arrests and detention, alleged custodial torture and deaths, restrictions on freedom of expression and peaceful political activities, threats and reprisals against journalists and lawyers, violations of academic freedom, and violence affecting children and marginalised communities. Through our Bangladesh Alerts, urgent appeals, monitoring initiatives and international advocacy, we sought to bring these concerns to the attention of national authorities, international institutions and the wider human rights community.
This quarter also witnessed further progress in strengthening JMBF’s international engagement. Our registration in the EU Transparency Register in July 2026 marked an important institutional milestone, reinforcing our commitment to transparent, credible and effective advocacy at the European and international levels.
Behind every case we document is a human being whose dignity, liberty, safety and fundamental rights matter. JMBF therefore remains firmly committed to independent, non-partisan and principled human rights advocacy, regardless of a victim’s political affiliation, profession, identity, gender, belief or social status.
As we move forward, we reaffirm our fundamental principle: human rights belong to everyone, and justice must never be selective.
