JMBF urgently seeks your intervention regarding the reported assault and Forcible Expulsion of pro-Awami League lawyers from the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court premises on 14 July 2026.

According to reliable sources and media reports, lawyers representing the accused, including Advocate Golam Rabbaniand Advocate Kamrul Islam, were allegedly attacked, physically assaulted, and forcibly removed from the court premises while briefing journalists following a court hearing.

France, Poland, Egypt, India, Srilanka, Kazakhstan, Indonesia | 09 January 2026: We, the undersigned human rights organizations, bar associations and individual legal experts, express our deep shock and grave concern over the brutal killing of Advocate Nayem Kibria (35), a pro–Awami League lawyer and practicing member of the Pabna District Judge Court, who was beaten to death by an organized mob in the Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhakaon the night of 31 December 2025.

Paris, France | 19 December 2025: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) is observing with profound anger, concern, and sorrow the recent series of horrific extremist violent incidents that took place across different parts of Bangladesh on the night of 18 December. The coordinated attacks on the offices of the country’s leading newspapers, The Daily Prothom Alo and The Daily Star; the national cultural institution Chhayanaut; members of minority communities; the remaining structures of the Bangabandhu Museum—an important symbol of the nation’s history; and the office of the Indian Assistant High Commission clearly demonstrate that Bangladesh has plunged into a state of extreme insecurity and that the state has gravely failed to fulfill its fundamental responsibilities.

Paris, France | 30 November 2025: The France-based international human rights organization, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), expresses deep concern and strong condemnation over the deaths of Shahadat Hossain and Moktar Hossain in the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) of the police, allegedly due to torture, in Sirajganj and Dhaka. JMBF firmly believes these deaths in police custody, allegedly caused by torture, constitute a gross violation of the Constitution of Bangladesh and the fundamental human rights declared by the United Nations.

UPDATE ALERT: JMBF Gravely Concerned and Strongly Condemns the Continuing Threats Against Advocate Mohammad Alamgir, Secretary General of JMBF

Paris, France | 28 November 2025: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) is gravely concerned and strongly condemns the ongoing threats and intimidation directed at Advocate Mohammad Alamgir, a member of the District Bar Association Dhaka & Brahmanbaria and the Secretary General of JMBF. JMBF firmly believes that these incidents constitute a deeply alarming attack on the independence of the legal profession and on the safety of a committed human rights defender.

Simultaneously, JMBF urges the Interim Government of Bangladesh to take immediate and effective steps to ensure the safety and security of Advocate Alamgir. JMBF also calls upon the authorities to swiftly arrest all individuals involved in issuing these threats, following a genuinely independent judicial investigation led by a Justice of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

Paris, France; 15 November 2025: The France-based human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses deep concern and condemnation over the conspiratorial arrest and imprisonment of Dhaka University (DU) Chemistry Department Professor Dr. Ershad Halim on 13 November, based solely on fabricated and conspiratorial allegations of sexual harassment of male students, allegedly due to his belonging to the gay community, as part of the continued pattern of discrimination and targeted harassment against sexual minority groups in Bangladesh.

BANGLADESH ALERT: JMBF Deeply Concerned and Strongly Condemns the Brutal Police Attack on Peaceful Teachers’ Protest in Dhaka

Paris, France | 09 November 2025: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses profound concern and strongly condemns the brutal and unjustified police attack on primary school teachers who were peacefully demonstrating in Dhaka’s Shahbagh area on 8 November, demanding the fulfillment of their three-point charter.

JMBF firmly believes that such violent repression of teachers is not only inhumane but also constitutes a clear violation of the fundamental constitutional rights to assembly, expression, and peaceful protest, as well as a direct violation of international human rights standards, particularly Articles 19 and 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

BANGLADESH ALERT: JMBF expresses deep concern and strongly condemns the arbitrary arrest and imprisonment of six lawyers in Naogaon and Dhaka.

Paris, France; 16 October 2025: Human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) is strongly alarmed and condemns the recent arbitrary arrest, re-arrest, and imprisonment of six senior lawyers in Naogaon and Dhaka on false and fabricated charges filed under the July assassination attempt, Explosive Substances Act, and Anti-Terrorism Act, solely for conducting professional activities and for holding differing political opinions. JMBF also demands the immediate release of the arrested and detained lawyers and the unconditional withdrawal of all cases filed against them.

BANGLADESH ALERT: JMBF Strongly Condemns Brutal Police Attacks on Peaceful Assembly of Jatio Party and MPO Teachers in Dhaka

Paris, France; 13 October 2025: The France-based human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses deep concern and strong condemnation over the recent brutal police attacks on peaceful political and social gatherings in Dhaka.

On 11 October, a peaceful political assembly of the Jatio Party at Kakrail More in the capital was violently disrupted by police. The following day, on 12 October, a peaceful protest by MPO-registered teachers in front of the National Press Club, demanding their legitimate rights, was attacked with sound grenades and baton charges, leaving many Jatio Party activists and several teachers bloodied and injured.

Paris, France; October 09, 2025: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses its deepest concern and strongest condemnation over the continuous threats, intimidation, and violent attacks directed against Advocate Mohammad Alamgir, the respected Secretary General of JMBF, for his courageous and professional engagement in defending victims of persecution, including members of the LGBTQI+ community, and for upholding the rule of law and justice in Bangladesh.

Over the past year, Advocate Alamgir has been repeatedly subjected to life-threatening attacks, harassment, and extortion demands by individuals and groups affiliated with BNP–Jamaat and Islamic fundamentalist elements, who have sought to silence him for his unwavering commitment to human rights and justice.

BANGLADESH ALERT: JMBF expresses deep concern and strongly condemns recent attacks, arrests, and fabricated cases against 19 lawyers across various districts in the country.

JMBF firmly believes that the barbaric attacks on engineering students and Ganadhikar Parishad leaders constitute a clear violation of Article 35(5) of the Constitution of Bangladesh and the fundamental human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
