The France-based human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation over the announcement of the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election of Bangladesh by the Bangladesh Election Commission on 11 December, excluding the country’s largest, oldest, and Liberation War–leading political party, Bangladesh Awami League, from participating in the election by banning it through an executive order.

PRESS RELEASE: JMBF Submits Formal Complaint to UN Special Rapporteur Over Ban on Bangladesh Awami League

Paris, France | 7 December 2025: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) has formally submitted a complaint to the Office of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, raising alarm over the ban imposed on Bangladesh’s oldest and largest political party, the Bangladesh Awami League (AL), and the suspension of its registration with the Election Commission.

JMBF Founder President Raises Concern at UN Forum on Minority Issues in Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland; November 27, 2025:
JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF)’s Founder President, Advocate Shahanur Islam, delivered a strong oral statement on 27 November 2025 at the United Nations 18th Forum on Minority Issues, highlighting the deteriorating human rights situation facing minority communities in Bangladesh. During his statement, he expressed deep concern over the increasing levels of discrimination, intimidation, and targeted persecution.

JMBF Files Urgent Formal Complaint to UN Over Detention and Torture of Barrister Turin Afroz

Paris, April 27, 2025 — JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) has formally submitted a complaint to the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Special Procedures, urging immediate intervention in the case of Barrister Turin Afroz, who they say has been subjected to grave human rights violations in Bangladesh.

In their submission, sent on April 26, 2025, JMBF addressed three UN Special Rapporteurs — on the Independence of Lawyers and Judges, on Torture, and on Arbitrary Arrest — detailing allegations of arbitrary arrest, custodial torture, and denial of the right to a fair trial.
