Addressing Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman, JMBF highlighted that so-called conversion therapy is a harmful and abusive practice that causes severe psychological trauma, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.
“This is not therapy—it is harm,” JMBF stated, emphasizing that such practices violate fundamental human rights, including dignity, health, and freedom from cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment.
Key Demands
Through this campaign, JMBF is urging the Government of Bangladesh to take immediate and decisive action, including:
- Banning all forms of conversion therapy targeting LGBTQI+ individuals;
- Enacting legislation to criminalise the practice, with penalties for individuals and institutions involved;
- Providing protection and support services for survivors, including access to mental health care and legal assistance;
- Promoting public awareness to combat stigma and misinformation;
- Ensuring accountability mechanisms to prevent ongoing abuse.

জেএমবিএফ-এর বাংলাদেশে কনভার্সন থেরাপি বন্ধ ও অপরাধ হিসেবে ঘোষণা করার জরুরি প্রচারণা শুরু
প্যারিস, ফ্রান্স | ০৯ এপ্রিল ২০২৬ — জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ ইন ফ্রান্স (জেএমবিএফ) বাংলাদেশে এলজিবিটিকিউআই+ ব্যক্তিদের বিরুদ্ধে তথাকথিত “কনভার্সন থেরাপি” বন্ধ ও এটিকে অপরাধ হিসেবে ঘোষণা করার আহ্বান জানিয়ে একটি জরুরি প্রচারণা শুরু করেছে।
মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী জনাব তারিক রহমানের প্রতি আহ্বান জানিয়ে জেএমবিএফ উল্লেখ করেছে যে, তথাকথিত কনভার্সন থেরাপি একটি ক্ষতিকর ও নির্যাতনমূলক প্রক্রিয়া, যা গুরুতর মানসিক আঘাত, হতাশা, উদ্বেগ এবং আত্মহত্যার প্রবণতা সৃষ্টি করে।
“এটি কোনো চিকিৎসা নয়—এটি নিপীড়ন,”—জেএমবিএফ এভাবে উল্লেখ করে জানায় যে, এই ধরনের কার্যক্রম মৌলিক মানবাধিকার—যেমন মর্যাদার অধিকার, স্বাস্থ্য অধিকার এবং নিষ্ঠুর, অমানবিক বা অবমাননাকর আচরণ থেকে মুক্ত থাকার অধিকার—লঙ্ঘন করে।
মূল দাবি
- সকল প্রকার কনভার্সন থেরাপি নিষিদ্ধ করা;
- এই কার্যক্রমকে আইনগতভাবে দণ্ডনীয় অপরাধ হিসেবে ঘোষণা করা;
- ভুক্তভোগীদের সুরক্ষা ও সহায়তা নিশ্চিত করা;
- সামাজিক কলঙ্ক দূর করতে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা;
- জবাবদিহিতা নিশ্চিত করা।

JMBF lance une campagne urgente pour mettre fin et criminaliser les thérapies de conversion au Bangladesh
Paris, France | 09 avril 2026: JusticeMakers Bangladesh en France (JMBF) a lancé une campagne urgente appelant le Gouvernement du Bangladesh à mettre fin et à criminaliser les thérapies de conversion visant les personnes LGBTQI+.
S’adressant au Premier ministre, M. Tarique Rahman, JMBF a souligné que les soi-disant thérapies de conversion constituent une pratique dangereuse et abusive, entraînant de graves traumatismes psychologiques, notamment la dépression, l’anxiété et des pensées suicidaires.
« Ce n’est pas une thérapie — c’est une forme de violence », a déclaré JMBF, soulignant que ces pratiques violent les droits fondamentaux, notamment la dignité, la santé et la protection contre les traitements cruels, inhumains ou dégradants.
Principales revendications
- Interdire toutes les formes de thérapie de conversion
- Criminaliser ces pratiques avec des sanctions légales
- Assurer la protection et le soutien des victimes
- Promouvoir la sensibilisation pour lutter contre la stigmatisation
- Garantir des mécanismes de responsabilité
JMBF appelle le gouvernement à prendre des mesures immédiates pour protéger les personnes LGBTQI+ et défendre les droits humains au Bangladesh.
