On April 8, 2025, the ILGA World Membership Team formally informed JMBF of its membership approval by the ILGA World Executive Board. This milestone represents a significant achievement in JMBF’s mission to promote justice, equality, and human rights for Bangladeshi LGBTI+ individuals living in France and throughout the diaspora. By joining ILGA World, JMBF becomes part of a powerful international network of over 2,000 organizations working collectively for a more inclusive, just, and equal society — one that celebrates diversity in sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.
“This membership is more than symbolic — it’s a strategic step forward in building solidarity, expanding our advocacy efforts, and connecting with LGBTI+ activists around the world,” said Advocate Shahanur Islam, Bangladeshi human rights lawyer and founding president of JMBF. “We are honored to stand alongside international partners who share our values of dignity, freedom, and equality.”
As a member of ILGA World, JMBF will gain access to unique opportunities, including participation in international forums, access to capacity-building programs, and involvement in collaborative advocacy initiatives. Moreover, the organization will have a voice in shaping the federation’s future through its democratic governance processes.
JMBF extends its sincere gratitude to the ILGA World Executive Board for their confidence and recognition. The organization looks forward to contributing actively to the global LGBTI+ rights movement and working in solidarity to ensure that every person, regardless of identity, can live freely, safely, and authentically.
