The Paris-based human rights organisation JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) and the Khulna-based organisation Human Rights Development Project (HRDP) jointly commemorated International Human Rights Day 2025 on December 10 through coordinated activities in both France and Bangladesh.

As countries across the world continue working to uphold the universal values of human rights including equality, dignity and freedom on International Human Rights Day 2025, the alarming deterioration of the human rights situation under the Interim Government in Bangladesh has become a matter of deep concern. PRESS RELEASE: JMBF Submits Formal Complaint to UN Special Rapporteur Over Ban on Bangladesh Awami League

Paris, France | 7 December 2025: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) has formally submitted a complaint to the Office of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, raising alarm over the ban imposed on Bangladesh’s oldest and largest political party, the Bangladesh Awami League (AL), and the suspension of its registration with the Election Commission.

The France-based international human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses deep concern and condemnation over the recent killing of three Bangladeshi citizens along the Indo-Bangla border by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). On 29 November, one Bangladeshi citizen, Shahidul Islam, was shot dead by BSF personnel at the Jhenaidah Jibannagar border, and on 1 December, two Bangladeshi citizens, Ibrahim Rinku and Momin Mia, were brutally beaten to death by BSF personnel at Chapainawabganj’s Wahedpur border.

The France-based international human rights organization, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), expresses deep concern and strong condemnation over the deaths of Shahadat Hossain and Moktar Hossain in the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) of the police, allegedly due to torture, in Sirajganj and Dhaka. JMBF firmly believes these deaths in police custody, allegedly caused by torture, constitute a gross violation of the Constitution of Bangladesh and the fundamental human rights declared by the United Nations.

UPDATE ALERT: JMBF Gravely Concerned and Strongly Condemns the Continuing Threats Against Advocate Mohammad Alamgir, Secretary General of JMBF

Paris, France | 28 November 2025: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) is gravely concerned and strongly condemns the ongoing threats and intimidation directed at Advocate Mohammad Alamgir, a member of the District Bar Association Dhaka & Brahmanbaria and the Secretary General of JMBF. JMBF firmly believes that these incidents constitute a deeply alarming attack on the independence of the legal profession and on the safety of a committed human rights defender.

Simultaneously, JMBF urges the Interim Government of Bangladesh to take immediate and effective steps to ensure the safety and security of Advocate Alamgir. JMBF also calls upon the authorities to swiftly arrest all individuals involved in issuing these threats, following a genuinely independent judicial investigation led by a Justice of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
